The Department of Parks & Recreation coordinates and oversees the operation of 65 parks and 21 recreational facilities encompassing more than 2,500 acres of land in the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
In 2009, a small group of Evansville residents met to discuss the city's efforts to develop the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage and their concern about the general deficiency in pedestrian and bicycle trails within our community. Their research led to studying other cities with extensive trails systems and found the common denominator being the existence of nonprofit groups that assisted their communities to help plan, educate, advocate for and promote the use of trails. By April 30, 2009, ETC was incorporated and underway! The goal then and now is to ensure an active, healthy, vibrant and economically thriving future for our community.
