Indiana State Games—Fit and 50!
Indiana State Games is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit that hosts multi-sport
competitions for active adults over the age of 50, in addition to community events to get those over 50 'off the couch'.
Indiana has been hosting (Senior) Games since 1986, with it’s mission to provide older adults the opportunity to engage in competitive and recreational sporting events as well as enhance the quality of life through fellowship and socialization in a safe and enjoyable environment to gain, maintain or enhance an active lifestyle.
In 2013, Indiana Senior Games became the Indiana State Games. We took the word 'senior' out of our name to entice those that don't see themselves as a 'senior' to get into the game!
Athletes train and compete in their choice of 25 sporting events by age and gender. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to the top three finishers. Events are in Evansville and the Indianapolis area.
As the qualifying site for the entire State of Indiana, the top winners in each event also advance to the National Senior Games held every other year.
Indiana Sporting events offered are:
Archery | Badminton | Basketball 3 on 3 | Bowling | Cycling
Disc Golf | Golf | Horseshoes| Pickleball | Power Walking | Race Walk
Racquetball | Recreation Events | Road Race 5 & 10K | Shuffleboard
Swimming | Table Tennis | Tennis | Track & Field | Triathlon| Volleyball
In addition, some Recreational and Non-Ambulatory Events are offered to keep those that still have the competitive edge active and engaged in the Indiana State Games competition.
Each year more and more athletes are participating at local, state and national levels. Athletes are from all over the state of Indiana, as well as from across the Nation. 2018 Indiana State Games—Fit and 50 hosted 676 athletes in their choice of 19 events. Over 500 athletes qualified to move onto the National Senior Games.
